The landscape of virtual reality (RV) is constantly evolving and improving. After a relatively quiet summer - outside the Oculus Quest exit! - We have a series of news to start autumn. We will guide you through the best news from the Helmet VR for the last two months below.

But first, a quick update on the general situation in the headphone world. First of all, some of the first major players like Google, Apple, and Samsung seem to take a step back. Google Interrupting the reverie (more on this below), Apple seems to focus most of its efforts on AR, and Samsung is very little promoting Gear VR despite the launch of a new telephone line. This last development is not too big a shocker, since Oculus technology works on a Samsung phone, a long-term intense arrangement given the focus on Oculus on VR helmets.

Speaking of Oculus, many news from the helmet from their offices (more on this below). After buying the company for $ 2 billion in 2014, it is not surprising that Facebook invests strongly in the success of Oculus. And CEO Facebook Mark Zuckerberg is a great supporter of technology. However, we have seen big acquisitions in other companies lead to stagnation, so it is good to see all recent News by Oculus.

Oculus is the undisputed leader in sales for mobile autonomous VR headphones. Although most of their marketing and development so far have been oriented towards consumers, it is clear that they also have eyes on companies (for example, at OC6, they had Walmart and Johnson speakers. & Johnson). Customers will definitely want to follow Oculus news for the coming year, even if you have already invested in a particular headset.

Without any farewell, you will find below the RV helmet updates, we think we will think the most for you ...

Oculus

It is interesting to read our full summary of Oculus Connect 6. A piece of big news for our customers was the announcement of an optional fastener of the quest to a PC. Why is it important? It allows you to perform more powerful VR experiments, similar to what you can currently do on the RIFT S. It also expands your storage limitation beyond 128 GB of the most powerful quest. This movement probably suggests more development efforts for the quest, with RIFT taking a rear seat.

There was also the OC6 announcement of the future recognition of the hand's hand gestures (estimated date: early 2020). We have many customers who will probably be interested in that because they have VR applications users who are not used to or do not want to use manual controllers. This makes the virtual reality more realistic and is very anticipated.

Since OC6, there is even more news. For example, a new firmware update allows the quest to operate as a standard headset of 3 degrees of freedom (3 DOF), similar to Oculus Go. When would you choose to use this feature? If the VR experience you filmed is really only for 3 DOF anyway, since the move to this mode will reduce your battery use.

There is also the imminent launch of Oculus for business. This makes it possible to facilitate the management and deployment of quest fleets, which is great if you use VR for large-scale training of employees or sales presentations.

All-in-all, Oculus Quest is the most traction winner helmet with our customers. And these updates are usually good and push the platform forward. Stay tuned for more Oculus updates, hopefully after the start of the new year!

Varjo

Although we have not publicly announced our support for Varjo, our development team is difficult at work to allow our business customers to publish this exciting headset.
